Early Intervention and ESDM
The Early Start Denver Model is an evidence-based early intervention for young children. It combines Applied Behaviour Analysis with developmental and relationship-based strategies, delivered through play-based, structured interaction in natural settings. ESDM is for children under five.
Who It Is For
- Children under five, including toddlers and infants
- Families noticing differences in communication, play or social interaction
- Parents who want to be actively coached rather than sitting outside the room
What Happens in a Session
- Play-based, structured interaction that follows the child's own motivation.
- Delivered in natural settings rather than at a desk.
- Parent-mediated, so strategies carry into the hours we are not there.
- Our infant and parent work, including sleep and feeding consultations, is based at our Oshawa site.
Goals We Might Work On
- Early social communication and joint attention
- Imitation and early play skills
- Sleep, feeding and toileting routines
- Language and play acquisition
