Kitchener-Waterloo: in-home and virtual from September 2026. Join the intake list
While You Wait is a live, RBA/BCBA-led caregiver program for Ontario families registered with the Ontario Autism Program who do not yet have core funding. Each week you learn one thing you can do at home, get your questions answered by a behaviour analyst, and leave with a plan that fits your child and your family.
Waiting for OAP funding should not mean waiting to help your child. This program was built for the years in between, and for the age group the early years programs stop at.
Free, no email needed.
Figures published by End the Wait Ontario from AccessOAP data, 13 May 2026. Registration and funding numbers change; ask us for the current picture.
The caregiver-mediated early years programs stop at 48 months, private ABA runs to thousands of dollars a month, and the pages families land on are free information with no program behind them. This is the part in between: weekly teaching from a behaviour analyst, at a price a waiting family can carry.

Embers for Access
$149 per month, donated
A donor funds a Guided Membership seat for a family below the Embers income threshold. Families apply through the existing Embers for Access intake. Donors receive a tax receipt.
Prices are in Canadian dollars. Foundations is a one-time purchase; the memberships are monthly and you can cancel any time.
Not every family wants a membership. This one is a service you can book by itself.
Standalone service
$340 flat fee
Two consultations with a clinician to prepare for your child's Individual Education Plan and their Identification, Placement and Review Committee meeting, plus one written report you can hand to the school. No membership needed, and it does not require a place in the program.
Tell us which part of the program fits and where your family is with OAP. It takes two minutes. The Funding the Future Guide needs no registration: download it and read it today.
A clinician reads every registration. If a different part of the program suits your child better, we say so before you pay anything.
Payment is arranged after that, by invoice from our accounting system. This page never asks for card details.
Live sessions run weekly on Zoom and are recorded for the families who cannot make that hour.
This matters more than the price list, so it is on the page rather than in a footnote.
No. The program was built for registered families who are waiting for core funding, and that is most of who you will meet on the call. Families who are not registered are welcome, and the funding clinic covers registration itself.
Yes. The caregiver-mediated early years programs stop at 48 months, which leaves the largest group of waiting families with nothing structured. This program is built for children aged four and up.
Tell us and we will help you plan the transition. Members get priority placement at our clinics, and the documents you have been keeping in the funding clinic are what your care coordinator asks for.
Ask your care coordinator first. Caregiver coaching may be eligible under core clinical funding, and we are confirming the details with AccessOAP. We would rather you wait for a clear answer than face a clawback.
Yes, any time, and you keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. The Foundations course is yours permanently.
Apply for a sponsored seat through Embers for Access. Donors fund Guided Membership seats for families below the income threshold, and the application is the intake form Embers already uses.
No. It is what a family can do in the years before funded therapy starts, and it is how you arrive at therapy organised, practised and known to a team.
One clinician reads every registration. Nothing is charged on this page.
